Our Volunteer & Youth Leadership Program is designed for motivated individuals (ages 15+) who want real-world experience in coaching, youth development, and community leadership. Whether you’re a student, athlete, or young adult looking to grow, JStarz is a place where passion meets purpose.

The JStarz Volunteer & Youth Leadership Program
“Develop leaders. Create opportunities. Grow our community.”
Volunteers work closely with:
- Children ages 4–12
- Beginner and early-stage youth players
- Special needs and inclusive programming
You’ll learn how to:
- Lead fun, age-appropriate drills
- Communicate confidently with kids and parents
- Manage groups safely and positively
- Build patience, empathy, and leadership skills
This experience is valuable for future careers in:
- Education & teaching
- Childcare & youth work
- Coaching & recreation
- Psychology & social services
- Leadership and community development
You don’t just train players — you help shape lives.
Coaching Development & Support
JStarz supports volunteers through:
- Entry-level coaching certifications
- Youth & grassroots coaching methods
- Safety, accessibility, and inclusivity best practices
- Shadowing opportunities with lead coaches
- Internal workshops and mentoring
This is real learning in real environments.
Pathway to Paid Coaching
Many of our paid coaches start as volunteers.
After completing:
- Required training or certifications
- A volunteer probationary period
Volunteers may be selected for paid Junior Coach roles supporting:
- Camps and clinics
- Community programs
- Birthday parties
- Special events
Coach Pay Progression Ladder
All coaching roles operate under an Independent Subcontractor Agreement. Progression is performance-based, not automatic.
Entry Level: Junior Coach
Requirements
- Completed volunteer probation
- Mandatory training & background checks
- Shadowing and orientation sessions
Responsibilities
- Assist or lead group sessions
- Support camps and community programs
- Work under guidance when needed
Progression Expectations
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Professional communication
- Safe Sport & child protection compliance
- Positive feedback from players, parents, and staff
Intermediate Level: Developing Coach
Progressive Rate
Eligibility
- 8–12 weeks of consistent paid coaching
- Completion of all training modules
- Ability to independently lead sessions
- Strong communication and session structure
Progression is determined by JStarz Training and is not automatic.
Advanced Level: Performance Coach
Earn competitive rates during specific sessions
This rate applies to designated full-capacity group or team sessions only and is tied to performance.
Eligibility Includes
- Consistently full sessions
- Strong player engagement and retention
- High professional standards
- Zero no-shows
This rate may be adjusted or revoked if performance declines.
